Norwegian Reward FAQ

We like to keep things as simple as possible, but if you're still unsure how Norwegian Reward loyalty programme works, this is the place to be.

Questions about Reward membership

Norwegian Reward is Norwegian's and Widerøe's loyalty programme. As a member you earn Spenn or CashPoints on all flights, plus a wide selection of hotels and car rentals.

You can now also fly your way to Gold.
Climbing our status ladder is simple. The more you fly, the higher you go. You'll unlock the next level for every eight flights you take in a year.

Member → Traveller → Bronze → Silver → Gold

You can become a member by creating a profile or by going to Norwegian.com or wideroe.no/en

Yes, you will find your digital membership card when you log into the Norwegian app. The card also shows your current membership level.

Your Reward Number can be found in your profile.

Children under the age of 16 can hold a Norwegian Reward membership if the child’s parent or guardian creates their profile and administers the email connected to the Reward account. All members can earn Spenn and CashPoints, including infants under 2 years old, provided the net cost of the member’s ticket is more than 0. Find out more about Child Accounts for CashPoints.

You can claim Spenn or CashPoints on flights up to 30 days after departure.

Claim Spenn or CashPoints ->

Earning Spenn on flights is personal, so you are only entitled to earn Spenn on your own flights. The name on the flight ticket must match the name you have registered in your Norwegian Reward profile.

Spenn are flexible points you can earn, collect and use across brands throughout the Nordics. Their exact value will depend on how you choose to them – whether that's as part payment against a flight or to redeem a special offer on flights and additional services such as seat reservation.

In the case of special offers, you’ll need fewer Spenn to get the same product or experience. In other cases, like popular routes or during peak seasons, you may need to use a little more. But don’t worry – we’ll always show you exactly how much everything costs in Spenn when you book. The rest is up to you!

Norwegian Reward members can earn Spenn on all Norwegian and og Widerøe tickets to any destination, as well as on a range of everyday partners. Make sure you download the Spenn app to connect your Reward account with your Spenn account, see all the partners you can earn Spenn with, and get access to extra special offers and deals!

Yes. If you live in Norway, Sweden, Denmark or Finland, you earn Spenn on all flight tickets with Norwegian and Widerøe, except group bookings and PSO routes. For every 1 Euro you spend, you earn 1 Spenn. This applies to our standard LowFare tickets.

Other ticket types allow you to earn even more Spenn:
LowFare+: Earn 2 Spenn per 1 Euro spent.
Flex: Earn 5 Spenn per 1 Euro spent.

No. You'll still earn CashPoints on Bank Norwegian purchases.

If you earn Spenn normally on flight tickets, then you'll get extra Spenn on LowFare and LowFare+ tickets when paying with the Bank Norwegian card. If you have opted-out of Spenn, you'll earn extra CashPoints instead.

If you have a Family Account with Norwegian Reward, you'll continue to earn CashPoints in that account. But if you download the Spenn app, you’ll also be able to create a Spenn Together account to pool your Spenn.

Your Spenn are valid for three years from the end of the month in which you received them in your account. Example: Spenn earned on a flight ticket purchased on 1 December 2024 will earn you Spenn that are valid until 31 December 2027.

That’s easy. Download the Spenn app from the App Store or Google Play, and follow the instructions in the app to connect your accounts.

You can also connect your accounts on our website or in the app by following the steps on My Profile page. You will find more information under ""Get more out of your Spenn"".

For members who qualify for the ‘No Spenn Expiry’ benefit, all Spenn in your account will have no expiry date as long as you have Gold status (only applies to Spenn earned on Norwegian and Widerøe products and services). Once you no longer meet the qualifying number of flights to maintain the benefit, those Spenn earned will go back to having their usual expiration timeline.

Check whether your Spenn are expiring this year in your profile.

Yes. You earn Spenn for all tickets, regardless of the currency used when booking (except when a booking is paid with CashPoints or Spenn – see details in next question below).

No, you cannot earn Spenn on charter tickets.

You can remove Spenn from your Norwegian Reward profile via the communication settings page in your profile. This means you will no longer be able to earn or use Spenn with Norwegian and Widerøe, and you will go back to earning CashPoints. If your Reward profile is linked with your Spenn account, you will find your Spenn balance in the Spenn app from now on. If you did not link your accounts, you will lose your Spenn.

In order to earn Spenn you must have a current address in Norway, Sweden, Denmark or Finland registered in your Norwegian Reward profile.

Questions about CashPoints

Norwegian Reward members residing in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland now earn Spenn on Norwegian and Widerøe commecial flights, instead of CashPoints. You’ll still be able to earn CashPoints on a range of Norwegian Reward partners, as well as spend your CashPoints according to their usual expiry dates.

If you have both CashPoints and Spenn in your account, you can use both when you pay for your ticket.

Yes, you can still earn CashPoints on purchases made with the Bank Norwegian card, as well as a range of selected Norwegian Reward partners, such as hotels and car rentals.

Note: If you live in the Nordics but have opted out of earning Spenn, you will earn CashPoints on flights. You’ll earn:

  • 1% CashPoints on LowFare tickets (3% with Bank Norwegian card)
  • 2% CashPoints on Lowfare+ tickets (4% with Bank Norwegian card)
  • 5% CashPoints on Flex tickets

No, you will not be able to convert your CashPoints into Spenn for now, but you can still use your CashPoints to book Norwegian and Widerøe tickets as normal.

If the ticket is partially paid in CashPoints, you would be refunded that part in CashPoints. If it is partially paid in Spenn, you would be refunded that part in Spenn.

Your CashPoints are valid throughout the year in which you earned them, plus two additional years.

Example: CashPoints earned on a flight ticket purchased on 1 September 2023 will have earned you CashPoints that are valid until 31 December 2025.

CashPoints received by way of a gift card are valid until the end of the year in which the gift card was purchased + 1 year.

If you have Norwegian Reward Gold and therefore have the ‘No CashPoints expiry’ benefit, you will keep this benefit for as long as you continue to meet the 32 flights within the previous 12 months threshold. Once you no longer meet the qualifying number of flights to maintain the benefit, those CashPoints earned will go back to having their usual expiration timeline.

Questions about Reward Benefits

As a Norwegian Reward member, you don't just earn Spenn and CashPoints. You can also get benefits that give you an even smoother journey. You get one every time you reach a new membership level.

Extra Spenn
The first benefit when you become a Traveller. You now earn 2 extra Spenn for every 10 kroner you spend on air tickets. So you earn a few more Spenn every time you fly. This applies to Nordic residents.

2% extra CashPoints
You earn an additional 2% CashPoints on flight tickets. This is the benefit you get when you become Traveller. You can get this benefit up to 3 times. This means you can get up to 6% extra CashPoints in total. This applies to members living outside the Nordics.

Free standard seat reservation
You can reserve any standard seat for free. You can choose this benefit when you have reached Bronze or higher.

Free Fast Track
Receive free access to Fast Track and spend less time in airports. You can choose this benefit when you have reached Bronze or higher. Fast Track is available at selected airports.

Free checked baggage
Take one piece of checked baggage of max. 23 kg for free on all your flights. You can choose this benefit when you have reached Bronze or higher.

Free overhead cabin baggage
Get a free piece of hand luggage (55 x 40 x 23 cm) to store in the overhead cabin bin. You can choose this benefit when you have reached Bronze or higher. Subject to availability in the cabin.

Note: Only overhead cabin baggage is available on all Widerøe routes. The other benefits in this list are only available when flying non-PSO routes. Find out more about PSO routes.

You can choose and activate your benefits in your Reward profile.

If you reside in Norway, Sweden, Denmark or Finland, the first benefit when you reach Traveller is always Extra Spenn. This means you’ll earn an additional 2 Spenn per 1 Euro spent on Norwegian and Widerøe commercial flight tickets.

For example, you usually earn 1 Spenn per 1 Euro spent on LowFare tickets, but with the Extra Spenn benefit, you’ll earn a total of 3 Spenn per 1 Euro spent on LowFare tickets. You can achieve this benefit up to 3 times. This means you can achieve up to 6 extra Spenn per 1 Euro spent on flights with this benefit.

When you reach your next levels, Bronze and Silver, you can decide for yourself which benefits you’d like next. Choose from: Free checked baggage, free standard seat reservation, another Extra Spenn benefit (can be selected up to 3 times), free Fast Track, free overhead cabin baggage (subject to available space in the cabin).

If you reside outside the Nordics, your first benefit when you reach Traveller is always Extra CashPoints. This means you'll earn 2% extra on Norwegian and Widerøe commercial flight tickets.

Pre-selected benefits are automatically activated once you have enough qualifying flights. If you don't make a decision, you'll get one free checked baggage for Bronze and free standard seat reservation for Silver.

Your activated benefits can be used when you log in and book a flight ticket on Norwegian's and Widerøe's website.

Every single trip counts as one flight. This includes flights with stopovers. If you, for instance, fly Trondheim-Oslo-London-Oslo-Trondheim, this counts as four flights and you're halfway to your next level.

Make sure that your Reward Number is added when you book a flight to make it count. You can also add your Reward Number retrospectively for up to 30 days after the date of departure. You can find your Reward Number on your profile page.

Note: We only count the flights where you have actually travelled and flown. Only Widerøe non-PSO flights count towards earning benefits.

Your activated benefits are locked for 12 months, and cannot be changed during that period. You can add further benefits as your number of qualifying flights increase.

Each benefit is available as long as you have your current membership lever or higher. This is usually 12 months from the last time you had enough qualifying flights for your current level.

Yes, as long as you have your current membership level or higher at the time of travel, you can use your benefits on your bookings.

Your current membership level is connected to your Reward profile. Make sure your Reward number is registered when you book your flight. As long as you have your current membership level or higher at the time of travel, any benefits will be automatically applied to your booking.

"Your membership level and benefits are personal to you and can therefore only be used on your own ticket and flights.

If you book on behalf of other travellers you can add their Reward Number to the booking. If your travelling companions have active benefits of their own, these will be available for use on the same booking."

Yes, but only if you give your Reward Number to the travel agent or tour operator and instruct them to register this when they book the flight. Your Reward Number appears in all your email statements from Norwegian Reward, in the Norwegian App and when you log in to your Reward profile.
